The Wynne School District wishes to address some misinformation circulating on social media regarding the primary election ballot, particularly concerning the Wynne School District's millage. It has come to our attention that inaccurate information is being spread on social media suggesting a new millage request for the district.
We want to clarify that this information is entirely false. The millage referenced on the ballot is not a new tax but a necessary disclosure of our current millage rate required by law to comply with state regulations. To be clear, there is no new request for a millage for the Wynne School District. The millage information included on the ballot is a standard procedure required by Article 14, Section 3 of the Arkansas Constitution, which states that “The Board of Directors shall submit the tax at the annual school election or at such other time as may be provided by law.” It does not indicate any new or additional tax burden for our community. A vote for or against the measure does not affect the current millage that is in place for the next nine years.
The Wynne School District takes transparency and accountability seriously, and we want to ensure that our community is well-informed about any matters about our schools. We urge individuals to verify information from credible sources and refrain from spreading misinformation that may cause confusion or unnecessary concern. Any information released by the Wynne School District will be clearly communicated via our official communications channels and will also be posted on our website.
